This street mural is public and is located on the walking path that connects E 8th Street and Bascom Street between the Chantilly & Elizabeth neighborhoods. The City of Charlotte commissioned 14 artists to create street murals through the Placemaking Program, which launched in 2018 and is dedicated to using urban design to improve public spaces.
They asked us to reflect on life during the stay-at-home order and COVID-19 and what we were paying attention to during that time. Staying at home made us look closer at things and find value in what’s truly important to us: being able to hug each other, our elders, nature, our city, our community, and even ourselves. So I created droplets featuring each of those things.
