This project took about a full week and involved some help on the background from a few students. The principal had asked students to submit ideas for the mural. Students wanted to incorporate the fact that three different elementary schools feed into the middle school. I placed those three mascots in the design on the right side. They are all fragmenting and coming apart to build the middle school’s mascot, a knight.

 

Although we transition into new environments, that doesn’t mean we lose where we come from or that we go into the newness already whole. The experiences that our peers had are also going to influence the type of person we become. Also contributing to our lives is the local history. Some of those places show up in the background.
